About EBC
EBC is all about equipping and inspiring people to walk by faith, not by sight. As a small country church nestled by the entrance to Elkmont Rural Village, we work hard to make each person feel welcome to our church "home". No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, we invite you to come and join us for our main Sunday morning gathering, or on Wednesday night for prayer and encouragement. If you do, we trust that you will find friendly people, an inspiring service, and real-life issues discussed from the Bible. New Here?VisionOur Beliefs and Values
We invite you to learn about Elkmont Baptist Church, and we hope you discover a warm, God-honoring place with the goal of helping to connect you in a closer walk with Jesus Christ. We seek to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ’s coming Kingdom (Matthew 28:19-20), and to share with those who do not know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior God’s love and redeeming grace, and His call for repentance and spiritual change; yet to those who reject Him, His impending judgement. We strive to practice original Christianity as taught and practiced by the Apostles and outlined in Acts 2:42: “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. ” To that end, we:
- Concentrate on the teaching of the Apostles’ Doctrine from both the Old and New Testament as well as those things taught by Christ Himself
- Encourage Fellowship one with another as members of a family
- Break bread together by sharing the Lord’s Supper monthly to “remember Him until He comes”
- Encourage prayer for one another, our community, and country

Purpose Statement
EBC is a local body of believers that exists to bring glory to God through the growing of a biblical, spiritual family of fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ who make disciples. As such, we feel closely associated with the Church of Philadelphia in Revelation 3:7-13 where Christ opens doors of ministry opportunity. We strive to assist our members by supporting them in their individual callings.
Doctrine
The essentials of our beliefs focus on the authority and inerrancy of Scripture; the Trinity; the full deity of Jesus Christ; the total depravity of humanity; the substitutionary atonement and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ; salvation by faith alone in Christ alone; assurance of salvation; and the certain, physical return of Christ to setup His millennial kingdom on this earth.
Our website will help you to get to know a little bit more about us, and we hope that we will have the opportunity to get to know you personally. Please contact us with questions you may have and how we can serve you.
Our Leadership
EBC believes in elders, and currently we have a head pastor/elder, one elder, and an elder-in-training.
Pastor/Elder Joseph Kress
He is retired from “mending tents and nets” in the secular world.

Vision
God has given the believers at Elkmont Baptist Church a vision drawn from Acts 2:42: “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” We trust Him to grow His church by adding faithful men and women “such as should be saved”, and we desire to help those who would follow Him to become true Disciples of Christ.
Ministries
Over the years God has lead EBC to support many ministries, and we will continue to do so. Often, the gifts of the believers and the burdens they bear for different areas of God’s work serve to drive our involvement. Some of these ministries have included
- Limestone County Churches Involved (needy Limestone County families)
- Sav-A-Life (Pro-life crisis pregnancy counseling)
- Individual missionaries
